Indrajit Lahiri
Founder, Foodka | Co-founder, Eastern Staple | Author, Entrepreneur & Cultural Storyteller
Indrajit Lahiri, widely known as Foodka, is a cultural storyteller, author, and entrepreneur who explores India through the lens of food, using it as a way to understand identity, memory, geography, and human behaviour.
Over the past eight years, he has documented culinary cultures across regions, moving beyond restaurants and recipes to examine how food reflects migration, economics, and lived experience. His work positions food not merely as content, but as a powerful medium to decode society.
With a multidisciplinary background spanning hospitality (IHM Bhubaneswar), economics (University of Calcutta), and over a decade in corporate leadership, Indrajit brings a rare perspective that bridges culture, commerce, and communication.
He is the co-founder of Eastern Staple, building scalable institutional food systems for modern India, and leads Foodka Consulting and Foodka Academy and studio, under the larger Foodka ecosystem. Through these platforms, he works closely with food businesses, cloud kitchens, and emerging entrepreneurs on branding, storytelling, content, and sustainable business growth.
Indrajit is the author of three Bengali books on food and culture and has served on juries for platforms such as the NDTV Food Awards and The Telegraph Food Awards. His work has also been examined in academic research published by De Gruyter Brill, reflecting its growing relevance in conversations around food, media, and consumer behaviour.
